NAME: Echo
CANON: Dollhouse
CANON POINT: S02E12 - before the 10 year time skip.
AGE: 30
BACKGROUND: Wiki
PERSONALITY:
Here's the deal with Echo: she is a cornucopia of at least a hundred different personalities that come from different people, and this ultimately contributes to her integrated personality. Basically a fancy way of saying that Echo is an accidental person in someone else's body. Her body used to belong to a woman named Caroline before the Dollhouse got involved, wiping away all things 'Caroline' and re-wiring her brain to suit what's called an 'Active architecture'. In theory, 'Caroline' may be put back into her own body (and she has), but she will forever carry that Active architecture, making her just as much of an imprint as any other personality placed into that body.
Echo is unique in that she is made up of every personality imprinted into Caroline's body. Essentially, her body's brain's self-awareness took those Dollhouse-made imprints and created Echo, which isn't something all brains can do. This in itself is evidence of ambition, strong willpower, and resourcefulness - which are a mere handful of ingredients that make up Echo. Caroline herself has been shown to exude these traits as well, especially during her activist work. It would make sense that Caroline's strengths would be what most powers Echo. Both are headstrong and are nothing if not fighters, and Echo wears these traits like a t-shirt. She's also got a unique sense of independence, meaning her version of self-sufficiency stems from being able to tap into any personality that would best suit a situation. This, in some ways, could be viewed as being reliant on others, but that's not entirely the case with Echo.
The fact is, despite being made up of all of these people, at Echo's core, she is painfully lonely and unsure of herself. Essentially being an imprint in someone else's body isn't easy, and it's not something Echo has fully allowed herself the time to cope with.
At her depth lies a lot of self-doubt that may overflow enough at times to make an appearance. In her head, there is only so much room for Echo, let alone her vulnerabilities. Despite that, she is always working on never allowing herself to fall fully into a personality with memories that aren't necessarily hers. It's a struggle that occasionally brings on migraines, but it's a struggle she has and will continue to fight with nonetheless.
POWERS/ABILITIES: She is able to tap into every personality that she has ever been imprinted with, which allows her access to a massive variety of knowledge and different skills at any given time.
She may also lose her basic functions - like sight - during an imprint shift.
This doesn't come without weaknesses, though; it's entirely possible for her to lose herself in a personality and she is especially vulnerable to this during times of distress. She also can't do much when the excruciating migraines kick in, since they are pretty intense. Any skills and abilities she may possess are not supernatural or 'super' in any variety. She is mortal and can die and become injured just as much as the next Joe Schmoe.
INVENTORY:
1. Your standard pistol.
2. Eleanor Penn's glasses.
3. Eleanor Penn's inhaler.
4. Esther Carpenter's white cane.
5. A curling iron/straightener hybrid, because duh.
6. Dominatrix outfit and all of its iconic glory.
